Karen McPhail (KayBee Glass)
Landscapes, feminist art, portraits in glass.
Profile
I love to create purpose-driven art, incorporating images or words to highlight historical and contemporary injustice. Suffragettes are a particular favourite. I also love recreating mountain silhouettes, particularly Scottish Munroes but I will venture further afield for the right mountain! I am a self-taught stained glass artist near Edinburgh in Scotland. All of my work is copper foil although I sometimes use lead for framing. I begin with my own sketch or drawing; every piece is unique and I love a good commission challenge.
I am a tutor with Edinburgh’s Adult Education Programme running beginners’ stained glass classes throughout the year.
