This year’s Scottish Glass Society (SGS) annual exhibition theme of Alchemy delves into the intricate and transformative process of glassmaking to discover the mysterious and complex world behind the creation of glass artworks, exploring its materiality and the delicate balance between science, artistry, and craftsmanship. Just as alchemists of the past sought to transmute base elements into gold, contemporary glass artists manipulate raw materials into extraordinary forms that challenge our understanding of what glass can be.
We hope the exhibition will contain as wide a range of glassmaking techniques as possible. We challenge glass practitioners to create glass art works that reveal the layers of difficulty, technique, patience, and precision involved in our craft.
The exhibition is open to all SGS Members. You are invited to submit up to 3 works of art in any form of glass. Glass must make up at least 50% of the exhibit.
