Alchemy – Scottish Glass Society Annual Exhibition 2025

The Scottish Glass Society (SGS) presents its annual exhibition, Alchemy, at Trades House, 85 Glassford Street, Glasgow,G1 1UH from 17–24 September 2025, open daily from 11am–4pm.

This year’s theme explores the transformative nature of glassmaking through the lens of alchemy – once celebrated as the science of turning base metals into gold. Just as ancient alchemists sought transformation, contemporary glass artists manipulate fragile, fluid materials into extraordinary artworks.

The exhibition showcases a wide range of glassmaking techniques by 30 artists, revealing the skill, patience, and creativity required to master this most challenging craft. Visitors can expect to encounter works that reflect experimentation, resilience, and the magical metamorphosis of glass.

Alchemy invites audiences to discover glass not just as a material, but as a process of transformation – where science and artistry meet.
