| Using Silver And Gold In Stained Glass Projects Brian Waugh and Steven Graham of Glasgow Glass Studios will give a joint talk on using silver stain and gold and silver leaf gilding in stained glass projects. Brian Waugh Brian is an accomplished stained glass artist who has a deep and abiding love of stained glass, not just historical but also modern and contemporary. His love of mythology, literature, poetry and the fantastic can be seen in his own original work which he has been designing and making for over 20 years. After studying Drawing and Painting at Glasgow School of Art and working as a professional book cover artist for 5 years, Brian decided to try his hand at making a stained glass panel and after attending a stained glass course at Glasgow School of Art and realising how much he loved the medium of glass, he decided that would be his journey….to study, design and make stained glass panels. Utilising techniques that have been around for centuries, Brian strives to create beautiful, evocative and atmospheric stained glass. Using techniques such as acid etched glass, high fired paint, enamel and silver stain, Brian strives to create very high standard stained glass panels for exhibition and for his commissioned work. He also is involved in doing restoration work varying from private residential to ecclesiastical projects. He occasionally teaches stained glass painting workshops. briancobweb@icloud.com Steven Graham Steven has worked with glass since 2001 and holds a first-class HA honours in Art & Design, specialising in art glass. As a glass artist he specialises in painted stained glass panels and kiln formed & cast sculptural glass. His work seeks to capture the translucence of glass and its unique ability to work with light to transmit colour. Steven’s stained-glass panels are influenced by the styles of the Pre-Raphaelite and art nouveau periods while incorporating contemporary themes. He uses the individual qualities of hand-blown glass which he enhances by etching and painting with hydrochloric acid and detail using traditional, high fire glass paints, stains and enamels. Where possible, he will encourage the installation of panels into light boxes to allow the client to maximise their opportunities to view the artwork throughout the day and night. Steven also provides educational workshops to inspire future glass artists, working with schools, colleges and community groups. Car Good main road and M8 connections – although thee are roadworks on the M8 near the centre of Glasgow. There will be some parking on site and on-street parking locally.
