We are delighted to announce details of our 2018 Exhibition which will be held in Trades House of Glasgow in the Merchant City area from 10-18 September 2018. This coincides with the Glasgow ‘Doors Open’ week.
The theme of the exhibition is ‘Glorious Glass!’
This year we will be joined by the Contemporary Glass Society’s Scottish Hub members. CGS is celebrating its 20th anniversary (2017) by holding a series of exhibitions throughout Great Britain. We liked the theme CGS has chosen and the aims of its exhibitions and so have adopted these for our joint endeavour.
The aim of the exhibition is to demonstrate just how utterly glorious and amazing contemporary glass is so that everyone can appreciate and enjoy its magical colours, textures, use of light and variety of techniques and also discover our Scottish glass artists. The work displayed will feature a wide range of techniques from hot blown forms, fused glass, stained glass panels, pâte de verre, engraving, jewellery, cast glass and more. Each artist will explain why glass is glorious to them and why they have chosen the pieces on display to express that passion for their chosen material. All the work on display will be for sale.
This will be an open exhibition and we would encourage as many members as possible to exhibit with us. There will be a maximum of three entries per member at a fee of £25 per entry. For those unable to invigilate for half a day there will be a one-off fee of £15.
We are working on the detailed information and application forms for members and will have these available soon. The closing date for entries will be 30 June 2018.
