Celebration Tree

Any seed when planted needs many things in order to flourish and grow.
North Lands Creative Glass was an idea planted in 1996 in the small fishing village of Lybster on the North East coast of Scotland and over the past 20 years the people and place of Lybster and Caithness have provided good fertile nourishment.
This year as part of our 20th anniversary celebrations and in partnership with the Lybster Gala committee who themselves will be commemorating 60 years of the Lybster Gala. North Lands are running a project called ‘Celebration Tree’

The project is asking everyone in the local community and to all those from the North Lands global glass community to help build a glass tree. A tree that from the root to the branch tip will be made up of individual fused glass tiles, each tile made by a different person. So if you have a connection with North Lands or with Lybster and would like to take part you are invited to make a glass leaf, a flower, nut, seed or fruit and send it from wherever you are in the world to North Lands to help build this tree of celebration.
All we ask is that the art work is about the size of your hand. All the individual tiles will be hung on the gable end of the new studio over the gala weekend and through the summer months. Eventually they will form part of smaller installations around the village.
If you feel you can contribute, please send us your artwork to the address below no later than the last week of June:
